This light up solar system model is made from solid Walnut. It lights up with 6 brightness levels. The LEDs are bright enough to be visible in a bright room. They can also be set dim enough to be used as a night light/mood light. Its not bright enough to be used in place of a lamp, but is enough to add a little mood lighting to a room. At its dimmest setting it is quite dim, making it great for a night light in a bedroom. There are hidden buttons on the bottom to turn it on/off and adjust the brightness without having to take it off the wall.

The top is open to let the escaping light look like the sun which is too large to fit next to the planets. Everything is very roughly to scale. The size of some planets and moons are increased to keep everything visible. The distances between objects are also roughly to scale while keeping everything small enough to fit on the model.

The model hangs on a French cleat which is a strip of wood you hang on the wall, then the model hooks onto it making it very easy to hang and have it be perfectly level. To hang the display you will need a Philips screwdriver and a small level.

The model has a backplate which keeps light from escaping out the back in case the wall isn't perfectly flat. This make it so that light only comes from the top and cutouts. The backplate is removable which means you can repair/replace the LEDs if you ever need to without having to send it back.
